Chel’s New Pad

Went to Plaza Singapura last night to meet up with a very good friend of ours, Chel. It was just our rendezvous point before finally going to Chel’s new place somewhere near Aljunied MRT, around the Geylang area. Didn’t get much photos of the place, due to time constraint. We just spent some quality time having dinner, fooling around and bumming around the living room watching TFC.

Me, Cel and Chel at the dining table and kitchen. We had lots of food. Corned beef, takoyaki balls, sushi from carrefour (thanks Chel) and some hawker products.

Few poses at the living room.

Then we finally went off since it was getting late and said our goodbyes. ‘Til our next visit.

Gimme some electronics! This was the scene at Suntec Convention Centre during the last day of the IT Show, right after our evening church service. The crowd never let up. All passageways leading to Suntec were blocked. Just to give you an idea, on my way to church I rode a bus from Orchard going to Suntec City Mall, and man, was the placed packed. Even the routes going there is jammed. I think this was the worst traffic jam I have ever seen in Singapore, bothfor cars and humans alike. What usually takes no more than 15 minutes from Orchard to Suntec, too about 45 minutes. What was worse, inside you had to squeeze yourself through dozens of people all heading towards the IT show.

After church, we decided to head over to Marina Square to grab some dinner. Marina Square was right across the street, but we didn’t want to risk getting caught jaywalking in Singapore. So, there was no choice but to use the link between Suntec and Marina Square on the second level. It took us about 10 minutes to get through, since they had to regulate the people using the escalators (photo above). Finally after easing our way through the crowd, it’s dinner time.

We got tired of eating fastfood, so we decided to eat at Han’s. We ordered the complete meal with soup, main course, fruit and iced lemon tea all for a 20-dollar tab. I got the spaghetti with sausage and Cel got Fish n’ Chips for our main course.

After dinner, I decided to try out my new camera, just a P&S though, but I was eager to try out it’s night shooting capabilities. Here are some few shots I took. By the looks of it, I think it performs pretty okay, especially when you mount it on a cute tiny, little tripod.

We’ve been here at Marina Bay countless of times just shooting and shooting at the skyline. Actually it’s just me. I think we better start looking for a new hangout. Next stop. We walked along Esplanade Drive to go to the Merlion Park (which until now is closed due to the injury it got during a fierce lightning storm).

We had coffee at a hidden Starbucks underneath Esplanade Drive. It was quite warm under there but cozy since not much people were having coffee there that night. After having a short, relaxing conversation, we’ve decided to call it a night and go home.

And that, is the beginning of a new blessed week…

Breakfast @ Empress Road Market Hawker Centre

Woke up at 11 am today, quite late, but early considering it was a Sunday. Was too lazy to cook some breakfast so I went to a bustling hawker centre nearby to buy something to eat. I bought the most famous dish here in Singapore, the chicken rice.

1 Order of Chicken Rice

There is something really enigmatic about this dish. It is just roasted chicken and rice with a couple of cucumber strips on the side, but it seems that no matter how many times I eat it, I never get tired of its taste. Strange. And I believe, you can find this all over Singapore, wherever you are. The country is just swarming with poultry products. I didn’t want to eat this alone, so, I also bought some pad-thai like noodles all for 5.00 dollars.

After breakfast, my sometimes ADHD best friend (just kidding), went off looking at 10-dollar clothes in some nearby walkway stalls. I advised her no to because 10-dollar clothes don’t usually have our sizes (haha). I usually call her Jerry (from Tom and Jerry – Jerry losing himself while sniffing the sweet aroma of cheese) when she gets into this habit of impulsive window shopping.p3150007Next stop is the supermarket. It was 2 weeks since we last bought some supplies so we had to do some quick shopping for groceries. Suprisingly we didn’t go over-budget this time and even had 0.90 cents to spare.

p3150009We bought rice, some milk, bread, minced pork, chicken (a whole lot of chicken) vegetables, crackers, cheese, potatoes, fruits and some fabric softener. Well, this is what our shopping cart looks like.

p3150012Then, we got a cab and we went home. Good thing I already familiarized myself with the winding directions going to our HDB flat, thus saving some time and cab fare. Within a span of two hours we were able to accomplish all this. Next stop, City Hall, going to church (Part 2).

Welcome to SilverShot! I am an amateur photographer, more of a hobbyist, who is simply addicted to one thing — photography.  I created this blog for the sole purpose of sharing my life experiences through a camera lens. I love shooting just about anything and everthing. Currently I own a Nikon D80 and more recently I acquired an Olympus 1050SW as my walk-around camera. The photos above are shots of me and my dearest friend (sister), Cel. More memories and photos to come.
